What to Expect

Jasper townsite is the hub of Jasper National Park. Touring Jasper can be broken down into 2 parts – a short loop that visits all the best locations that are close to the town and a longer drive to the best corners of the Park.

Close to town, the benchland that sits above the town enjoys scenic views across Pyramid and Patricia Lakes. Take a ride up onto Whistlers Mountain on the Jasper SkyTram, and have a great chance of sharing excellent views with big horn sheep at the top of the stairs at Old Fort Point.

Explore deeper by heading towards Maligne Lake. On the way stop in to see the historic Jasper Park Lodge and Edith and Annette Lakes. See if you can find the quicksand! Also on the way, stop at the narrow and deep Maligne Canyon. Disappearing Medicine Lake is also viewed before arriving at Maligne Lake. This is the departure point for the Spirit Island cruise.

Extend the drive towards the east entrance and visit Miette Hot Springs for the Rockies hottest soak.

Jasper overall tends to be abundant with wildlife so always keep an eye out for elk, big horn sheep and grizzly bears.
